OVERVIEW
Travel Northern Kansai and visit the deeper rural areas not found in most guidebooks. Take a boat ride along the Sea of Japan with professional fishermen and try your hand at catching your own dinner with fixed-net fishing along the Tango peninsula. Learn how to prepare and cook and then enjoy your catch afterwards. Don’t have your sea legs? Land lovers can stick to the shore and harvest their own seasonal crops from fruits to vegetables. After earning your keep take a soak in the natural hot springs located near the tip of the peninsula. Travel to the west along the scenic byway to the famed hot spring town of Kinosaki Onsen famous for its nostalgic atmosphere and seven public bathhouses with 100% natural hot spring water. Spend a night and day exploring this town and the hot springs. Head into the mountains the next day to see first hand the power of Mother Nature while trekking the old lava flows or flying above the extinct volcano in Kannabe. After your adventures relax in the thermal heated hot springs of Kannabe. Later, head down for a day in Himeji for shopping and sightseeing. Be sure to check out Himeji Castle a UNESCO heritage sight, this castle and its grounds are beautifully preserved, a great destination for any history buff. On your last day you will head back towards Kansai International airport and spend a day and night in Osaka, also known as “Japan’s Kitchen”.

DAY 1
Kansai International Airport / KYOTO

Travel from Kansai International Airport to Kyoto. Spend a day exploring the old capital and spend one night in Kyoto

DAY 2
AMANOHASHIDATE / INE / YOSHINO

Visit some of the oldest shrines in Japan that are linked to its creation. Explore a fishing village that seems to float on the water and enjoy a homecooked meal in a traditional Japanese house.

DAY 3
TAIZA / KINOSAKI ONSEN

Wake up early and head down to Takano Fishing Port for a spectacular sunrise view and chance to experience time-honored fishing techniques such as fixed-net fishing used by the local fishermen.

8:00-10:00 Kyotango fishing port (Enjoy a nigiri sushi breakfast made yourself from the fresh fish you just caught.)
10:00-11:00 Hands-on harvesting experience and discuss making doburoku (Japanese "moonshine")
13:09 Catch the train from Amino Station for JR Kinosaki Onsen Station
14:07 Kinosaki Onsen (Stroll the town / visit the 7 public hot spring bathhouses / Ropeway)
16:00 Check into your room (Change into your yukata and go out for an evening stroll)

DAY 4
KANNABE HIGHLAND / HIMEJI / OSAKA

Prepare for a day in the great outdoors of northern Hyogo Prefecture. You can hike old lava flows and nature trails from spring to autumn, then in winter the area is blanketed in snow perfect for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and more.
